Calcutta Draw
Stage One: Initial Calcutta Draw
All eligible entrants will be entered into a random draw to determine the Initial Calcutta Winners.
The Initial Calcutta Draw will select 10 winners at random.
Each of the 10 winners will be assigned a horse through a second draw. In the second draw the randomly drawn winner will be allocated a corresponding horse in barrier number order. For example, winner number 1 will be allocated horse barrier number 1. In the event the allocated horse is an emergency, it will pass down the barrier order to the next horse.
Reserve Winners: An additional 10 ‘Reserve Winners’ will also be drawn. These reserves are intended to replace any Initial Calcutta Winners who do not meet the ‘fit and proper person’ requirement or to address any unclaimed prizes.
Compliance Check: Harness Racing Australia will verify that the 10 Initial Calcutta Winners meet the necessary eligibility criteria. If any winner fails this check, they will be substituted with a Reserve Winner in the order drawn.
Stage Two: Calcutta Online Bidding Process
Bidding Event: An online auction through an online bidding platform.
Bidding Participation:
Initial Calcutta Winners: If an Initial Winner chooses to bid for their assigned horse, they must have the highest bid and will only pay half of that bid amount. The remaining amount will contribute to the Calcutta Pool.
Other Bidders: Must pay the full amount of their winning bid. Fifty percent of this amount goes to the prize pool, and the remaining fifty percent is awarded to the Initial Calcutta Winner assigned to that horse.
Allocation: The Calcutta Pool comprises 50% of the money raised through the bidding and 95% of ticket sales minus administrative costs.
No Bids: If a horse does not receive any bids, the Initial Calcutta Winner of that horse will automatically receive the prize as if they had won the bid.
All attendees to the event will also be required to place bids online through the online bidding platform.
Slot holders and TAB Eureka horse owners are eligible to participate.
If they draw a horse in Stage 1 that is not the horse they are connected too, they cannot make a bid in Stage 2 and must sell their interest.
May bid on the horse they are connected too.
Stage Three: Final Stage of Calcutta
Prize Distribution: Once the final Calcutta Winners are determined through the bidding process, the prize money will be allocated based on the finishing positions of the horses in The TAB Eureka.
Prize Structure: Prizemoney from the Calcutta pool will be distributed according to the predefined prize structure outlined in the ‘Prizes’ section of the terms and conditions.
Horses scratched will be replaced by ‘emergency’ horses and the winner corresponding to the scratched horse will be allocated the emergency horse.
