TAB Eureka Watch on Extreme Sea

FANS won’t have to wait too long to see buzz pacer Extreme Sea back at the races.

David Hewitt’s four-year-old stormed up the TAB Eureka Power Rankings and betting charts when he thrashed his rivals in last month’s NSW Regional Metro final and repeated the dose in the overall NSW Regional final at Menangle.

The times, margins and ease of the wins was breathtaking.

“It’s been a big year for him so far, he’s come a long way quickly,” Hewitt said.

“We always planned to give him a break after the last of the finals and he had a week out in the paddock. I’d say he’s about two weeks away from a race now.”

Hewitt isn’t one to lock into any plans, but the intention is to make a hit-and-run raid on the Queensland Constellations if Extreme Sea goes as well as hoped in his next run.

“That’s likely to be two weeks, which is two weeks before the race we’re looking at in Brisbane,” Hewitt said.

That target race is the $350,000 Group 1 Rising Sun at Albion Park on July 13.

It promises to bring together many leading TAB Eureka contenders with Extrema Sea to be joined by the likes of Frankie Ferocious, The Lost Storm, Captains Knock, Dougs Platter and For Real Life.

“If he goes to Brisbane, which we’re planning, it would just be in the week of that race,” Hewitt said.

Extreme Sea has won seven of his 10 starts, but it has been the past three Menangle wins – by an aggregate of 76.6 metres –

Which have stamped him as one of the most exciting pacers in this part of the world.

“Do you think they’re all still talking about him?” the humble Hewitt asked.

Yes, they certainly are.

Extreme Sea is locked in through Wayne Loader’s slot for the $2.1mil TAB Eureka on September 7.

In the meantime, Hewitt’s son Brad, who has driven Extreme Sea in all his races, will partner his own pacer Captains Knock at Menangle on Saturday night.

Captains Knock, who won well first-up last Saturday week, has landed the Cordina Racing slot in the TAB Eureka.

“He’s come on well since the first-up win and we’re happy to give him another run down here rather than head to Brisbane early,” Brad Hewitt said.

Extreme Sea is second to Frankie Ferocious in the TAB Eureka Power Rankings.

The glamour pair share prepost favouritism in latest markets at $3.

Captains Knock is a $9 and in sixth spot in the Power Rankings.
