Queenslands Finest Battle For TAB’s Slot

A PACK of exciting Queensland horses will swarm on Menangle to chase an 11th hour slot in the $2.1mil TAB Eureka.

For Real Life, Sure Thing Captain, Wisper A Secret and Regazzo Di Tilly are all expected to tackle Saturday week’s Racenet Discovery Stakes at Menangle.

In an exciting twist, TAB recently revealed it would use the race to finalise its TAB Eureka slot runner after its original choice, Frankie Ferocious, was sidelined with a throat issue.

It’s proven an inspired move to drive huge late interest in the make-up for the TAB Eureka field.

When you add other possibles like Dougs Platter, Captain Hammerhead and maybe even Perfect Class, the Racenet Discovery Stakes will be a true “play-off” for the final spot in the world’s richest harness race.

TAB has stressed the slot runner it chooses won’t necessarily be the winner, but the horse it believes will be best suited to racing a week later in the TAB Eureka.

For Real Life and Sure Thing Captain pressed their case for a late slot with Albion Park wins last weekend.

Many think Wisper A Secret should already be in on the strength of his Group 1 Rising Sun win last month.

While Regazzo Di Tilly has run a string of massive races and posted some sizzling sectional times in recent weeks.

Dougs Platter will be out to impress again when he tackles the third race at Menangle on Saturday night.

While Captain Hammerhead will trial at Shepparton on Thursday before heading to Menangle to tackle the Racenet Discovery Stakes nine days later.

In other TAB Eureka news, favourite Never Ending faces a fascinating final lead-up race against a super strong 2300m free-for-all field on Saturday night.

The four-year-old has drawn wide in gate 10, while main danger Major Moth will be favourite from gate six.
